ORDINARY CANADIANS DOING EXTRAORDINARY THINGS

The Peace Collective is a lifestyle brand that enables Canadians to show pride in who they are and where they come from anchored by our Products, Community and Foundation.
Founded by Yanal Dhailieh in 2014, the Peace Collective is built on two ideas:
(1) We believe in designing products that allow Canadians to show pride in a modern, fashionable way. We found that a lot of the options for Canadians was stuck in a past and did not reflect the modern Canadian and their lifestyle.
(2) Our one-for-one model. From day one, every garment sold has gone to help provide meals to children in need. Today every garment sold provides two healthy meals and a snack to a Canadian child in need through our Peace Foundation.
We are simply a collective of Canadians chasing their passions while leaving a positive impact on our community.
A collective of Canadians chasing their passion while giving back to their community.
The Peace Foundation focuses its efforts on empowering Canadians to chase their passion by providing the support and resources necessary to do so.

What does the concept of chasing your passions mean to you?

For me personally chasing your passion means working hard to create the best possible version of your self. The person you were put on this earth to be.

For some strange reason though, people seem to associate following your passion with expecting a life of luxury without having to put in much effort. But that isn’t the case at all. It doesn't mean laying in a hammock reading a book on the beach, or sipping on lattes in some exotic location.

I believe that chasing your passion boils down to two key ingredients: (1) Do what you love and (2) add value to the world. As long as you are doing those two things regardless of what anyone has to say, you are probably on the right track. It’s normal to have your doubts when people constantly try to remind you that you’re chasing a fruitless endeavor.

One common setback is thinking you’re not good enough to do what you want; we have a tendency to drastically underestimate ourselves. We look at others pursuing similar projects and immediately feel inadequate. Here’s the solution: stop thinking of your art as something to be compared. Each person has a story — a unique lens from which they see the world. Your art should reflect this. You are the only person in the universe with your story. I firmly believe that our job on this earth is to find out what our story is. and to share it to the world. Following your passion isn't unrealistic.

This misconception exists because people misunderstand the phrase, taking it to mean having lofty, impractical expectations for oneself. Commit to your art, work hard to create value, and cultivate your following. Doing these things creates a positive impact on the world that others will notice. And what’s so unrealistic about that?

What does the concept of chasing your passions mean to you?

Dreams and passions is an ever-changing, personal concept that evolves as we grow and progress in our lives. They are not end-goals but rather interim goals that we strive towards at every point and milestone in our lives and I strongly believe that the act of chasing passions is the journey towards those goals and the feeling of accomplishment that we get when we reach them.

Passion is the enjoyment and feeling of fulfillment in the doing what we love. It is something that is so personal that I do not think it can be clearly outlined by a single definition. It is something that we truly want to do and will do with no hesitation whatsoever. I think one of the greatest struggles in life is blurring the line between our responsibilities and our passions. When you're working and doing something you truly love and are passionate about, I think that's when you've made it.

What does the concept of chasing your passions mean to you?

Chasing your passions to me means taking that step towards doing what you truly love and removing yourself from your comfort zone. It means having a vision of what you really want out of life and setting goals to get yourself there. I used to underestimate the power of goal-setting until I actively took initiative to incorporate it in my own life. It wasn't until I started writing things down with steps on how to achieve them that I really started to see them materialize in my life. I challenge you to do the same and you’ll be pleasantly surprised at what can happen when you actually put your mind and body towards something.

What does the concept of chasing your passions mean to you?

Passion is the driving force in my life. It’s what helps me get out of bed in the morning and what motivates me to keep going. I’ve been fortunate enough to be part of a team that allows me to chase my passion everyday. Because of Peace Collective I’ve been able to meet new people and think creatively, all while giving back to the community. To me, chasing my passion means living everyday doing what I love. It isn’t an end goal that I strive for, but a goal that evolves as I learn and grow.

What does the concept of chasing your passions mean to you?

Chasing your passion is finding something that adds value to your life each day by doing what is most important to you. The interest that is always in the back of your mind, consistently thinking about ways you can move forward with it and improve. I also think that the idea of having one all-consuming passion isn’t always realistic, people uncover and find new passions throughout their lifetime. Whatever that thing may be, ensuring that you are living a life of substance that enriches both your life and the lives of others. Assigning meaning to the tasks you are doing, and having a sense of responsibility to be the best version of yourself.

What does the concept of chasing your passions mean to you?

To me, chasing your passion means work hard for what you believe in and learn a lot on the way. I was really lucky to find my passion pretty early, which enabled me to wear many hats in my career. This is the reason why designing doesn’t feel like working. I’m constantly learning, experimenting and getting inspired by the people around me.

What does the concept of chasing your passions mean to you?

Sometimes, it is not enough to just dream big, you need to find ways to reach it. Chasing your passion means truly finding what inspires you and setting yourself up to excel. Passions come in many forms and are one of the reasons why we do things. It is never too late to pursue what inspires you and to start paving a way in getting there.

What does the concept of chasing your passions mean to you?

To me the concept of chasing passion means finding fulfillment and happiness in whatever I do, regardless of its perceived stature. For a long time, I believed passions and hobbies were synonymous. Something you could do once in a while, but you would eventually leave behind for “the real world”. It’s not until I started exploring the world of design, that I saw the possibilities of making my passion a part of “the real world”. For myself, creating has always been something I directly associate with passion. The idea that you can create virtually anything, with almost no restrictions is thrilling. Constant change and self-improvement are two things I seek in a lasting passion, and design has provided me with both. Right now I am so lucky to say that what I do is something I am very passionate about. Though I know I am still at the surface of understanding my full passion, at my current state I would encourage anyone to discover their passion, and do so without letting others’ opinions interfere.
